Being initially inspired by the shadows of trees that she saw on grass, she spent months studying a method that didn't present the chosen subject as a 2-dimensional representation on canvas. When the objects are alive or a thing that can be eaten, like humans and fruits that they transform into a picture of themselves. Alexa Meade's style of painting, that is extremely ephemeral its nature, can be seen. The only thing of her art to survive is her photograph. Techniques of photography and painting closely synchronized, which results in a flat, two-dimensional space which achieves trompe-l'oeil. Only certain parts of the image such as the hair, or eyes, display the three-dimensional dimension. Meade sometimes incorporates painted models in the space surrounding them. It allows them to engage with the environment she has created. Thereby repealing the boundaries between painting, photography, performances and installations.
